How the Calculation Works
The calculator uses a standard weighted-average model: it solves for the number of new reviews, at your expected new-review average, that would pull your overall Play Store rating up to your target — given how many reviews your app already has. More existing reviews means each new review moves the average less, so the same rating jump takes more reviews on an established app than on a newly launched one.
Play Store Rating vs. This Estimate
Google Play calculates the rating shown on your store listing from your app's current-version quality rather than a pure lifetime average, and — since 2024 — can display country- and device-specific ratings. This tool estimates a simple weighted-average outcome as a planning estimate; it isn't a simulation of Google Play's live, per-region rating algorithm.
How Many Positive Reviews Offset a 1-Star Review?
There's no fixed number — it depends entirely on how many reviews your app already has. A single 1-star review pulls the average of an app with 50 reviews far more than it pulls one with 50,000.
